GETTING STARTED
General Prep and Info
¨ What you need to get started:
• A good pair of running shoes, water bottle and towel.
• A bicycle in good working order and a helmet.
• A swimsuit and swimming goggles. Basic swimming skill or swim classes are suggested.
• A positive attitude and commitment to give it a “tri.”
• Reasonable health with clearance to exercise.

o Hydration / Water Bottles
o Besides H2O: G2, Powerade, Spark, Accelerade
o Sunscreen
o Food – Diet – Energy
o Shot Blocks, Gu, bananas and bagels
o Sleep
o Weight loss?
¨ 1st introductory session is complimentary where we’ll go over all this in more detail
¨ You pay $25 for first three startup sessions:
o Swim Skills & Drills
o Bike Safety, Skills & Drills
o Run-Walk-Run Drills and techniques
¨ After that, club membership is $75/year (1st tri only) to attend as many or as few club training sessions and activities as you want or $50 for a triathlon season (12 months) if you have already completed a triathlon. Club dues are reduced by $25 with a commitment to volunteer at 2 club-sponsored events during the year.

¨ Read (or watch YouTube videos) for training by Jeff Galloway, we’ll be using Galloway interval running techniques

¨ Swim cap, get used to it, it will be required in a triathlon

o Swim fins (not scuba or snorkeling fins) “Zoomers”, we have some to use
o Swim paddles (Finis suggested on Amazon), we have some to use
o Pull buoy, kickboard, nose plugs, ear plugs
